My top summer wardrobe picks

Summer holiday season has arrived! In the run up to our summer holiday, I always end up buying quite a few new bits to take on holiday. For me, having new holiday clothes is all part of the holiday fun (any excuse!). I’m particularly loving this season’s styles, so I have to admit to spending quite a bit this year – whoops! Here are my top summer wardrobe picks… Floral top (Ted Baker, £87.99) – I’m loving both off the shoulder tops and floral prints at the minute and this top ticks both boxes. This top could be worn in the day…

The twins’ last day at pre-school

Tomorrow is the twins’ last day at pre-school and I’m feeling very sad. They attend a lovely little village pre-school and have done since they were two. Oscar also attended when he was younger. It’s such a lovely caring place. The staff are brilliant and really go the extra mile to help the children and parents make amazing memories. The annual nativity, easter bonnet parade and summer show are all lovely events that we’ve always enjoyed attending. And tomorrow we say our final goodbye. Pre-school, and the fabulous staff, have been part of our lives for over five years, but…

Capturing our moments {Feb – June}

I knew it had been a while since I’d written one of these posts, but when I looked back and saw the last one was written in Feb, I was a bit gobsmacked! Just where has the time gone? The main aim of these posts is to try and capture all the little things that we’ve done every couple of months, so to ensure we’ve captured everything, I’m going to try and cram everything we’ve been up to since Feb into this post (it may be a long one – apologies). The twin’s 4th birthday I can’t actually believe I…

Renovating our main bathroom

We have plenty of tiles around our house, especially in our recent extension, I love them – whether they’re floor tiles or wall tiles! In my eyes, tiles give you so much freedom to accessorise around, as well as being stylish themselves they’re versatile for pairing up with different furnishings. When we extended our house we ended up renovating most of the existing rooms too. However, one room we didn’t do was the main bathroom.  Now that everywhere else is how we want it, I’m hoping in the next year or so that we’ll be able to afford to update this…

A space themed boy’s bedroom

Back in January, we made the big move to put the twins in seperate bedrooms. We were finding that one would often wake the other one up and we just knew that it was the right time. Henry had said that he wanted a space themed bedroom after he saw some bedding he liked when we were out shopping, so I set about creating him his own special room. The room was part of the extension we had a couple of years ago, so was basically a blank canvas. The walls were already painted white and we’d chosen a neutral…

Jamie’s Italian, Nottingham {restaurant review}

We were delighted to be asked to sample the Super Lunch menu at our local Jamie’s Italian, which is in Nottingham. I’ve actually visited before, but have never taken the kids, so thought it would be a great opportunity to see just how family friendly it is. The day we were booked in was particularly dull, dreary and wet, so it was great timing – a lovely little treat to perk us up! We arrived about 5 mins before our 12-noon reservation and were ushered out of the rain, even though they weren’t officially open. We were seated on a…

My favourite floor trends

It’s been quite a long time since I wrote an interior related post and lately I’ve been obsessed with looking at what’s hot on the flooring front! Now don’t get me wrong, I love the flooring that is down in my house but a girl can dream, right? One of the most popular trends at the moment and a personal favourite of mine is natural wood. This is also known as ‘Rustic’ flooring and it has seen a massive increase in popularity over the last couple of years, which certainly shows no signs of slowing down and isn’t really a…

Why I disagree with SATs – a bit …

Next week Oscar will take his Year 2 SATs exams. For the past few weeks he has been anxious and stressed about taking the exams and it makes me so cross that seven year-olds are put through this completely unnecessary stress. We’ve obviously reassured Oscar that SATs are not important and he just needs to try his best. In fact, I’ve told him that the only exams that are important are his GCSEs, which he’ll take when he is 16! Until that point exam stress should not even be part of his life. At seven he should be developing his…

Finding my running mojo

Since running the London Marathon last year I’ve kinda been struggling a bit with running. I lost all motivation and passion. I think once the pressure was off and I no longer had to follow such a strict training plan, I just found it all a bit pointless. Don’t get me wrong, I hadn’t given up running all together and was still managing to go out once or twice a week and do a few miles. I just haven’t improved and can no longer run any sort of longer distance. Basically I lost my focus or, as I like to…

Children’s duvet covers for girls

In February, we decorated our spare room for Henry, so that the twins could each have their own bedroom. And although he seems to float between his new room, Oscar’s room and the room he used to share with Heidi, I think it’s time to update their old room to create a more girly-themed space for Heidi. I’m really excited about decorating Heidi’s room as it the first time I’ve done a girl’s ‘bedroom. I’ve been doing lots of planning and pinning on Pinterest (check out my board here)! And although I haven’t started ordering anything yet, I’ve been doing…

Caribbean Disney Cruise {lots of pics & a …

Funny how it takes us getting organised for our next holiday to give me the kick up the bum to post about our last one! At the end of November, we went on a Caribbean Disney Cruise as part of my Mum’s 70th birthday celebrations. We have cruised with Disney before. We did a Mediterranean cruise on the Disney Magic when the twins were 18 months-old and we all loved it. We were excited about sailing on the Disney Fantasy, which is a bigger boat than the Magic. We flew from Manchester with Virgin. The flight was pretty good and…
