My favourite floor trends

It’s been quite a long time since I wrote an interior related post and lately I’ve been obsessed with looking at what’s hot on the flooring front! Now don’t get me wrong, I love the flooring that is down in my house but a girl can dream, right? One of the most popular trends at the moment and a personal favourite of mine is natural wood. This is also known as ‘Rustic’ flooring and it has seen a massive increase in popularity over the last couple of years, which certainly shows no signs of slowing down and isn’t really a…

Why I disagree with SATs – a bit …

Next week Oscar will take his Year 2 SATs exams. For the past few weeks he has been anxious and stressed about taking the exams and it makes me so cross that seven year-olds are put through this completely unnecessary stress. We’ve obviously reassured Oscar that SATs are not important and he just needs to try his best. In fact, I’ve told him that the only exams that are important are his GCSEs, which he’ll take when he is 16! Until that point exam stress should not even be part of his life. At seven he should be developing his…

Finding my running mojo

Since running the London Marathon last year I’ve kinda been struggling a bit with running. I lost all motivation and passion. I think once the pressure was off and I no longer had to follow such a strict training plan, I just found it all a bit pointless. Don’t get me wrong, I hadn’t given up running all together and was still managing to go out once or twice a week and do a few miles. I just haven’t improved and can no longer run any sort of longer distance. Basically I lost my focus or, as I like to…

Children’s duvet covers for girls

In February, we decorated our spare room for Henry, so that the twins could each have their own bedroom. And although he seems to float between his new room, Oscar’s room and the room he used to share with Heidi, I think it’s time to update their old room to create a more girly-themed space for Heidi. I’m really excited about decorating Heidi’s room as it the first time I’ve done a girl’s ‘bedroom. I’ve been doing lots of planning and pinning on Pinterest (check out my board here)! And although I haven’t started ordering anything yet, I’ve been doing…

Caribbean Disney Cruise {lots of pics & a …

Funny how it takes us getting organised for our next holiday to give me the kick up the bum to post about our last one! At the end of November, we went on a Caribbean Disney Cruise as part of my Mum’s 70th birthday celebrations. We have cruised with Disney before. We did a Mediterranean cruise on the Disney Magic when the twins were 18 months-old and we all loved it. We were excited about sailing on the Disney Fantasy, which is a bigger boat than the Magic. We flew from Manchester with Virgin. The flight was pretty good and…

When your child struggles at school

I’ve debated whether to post about this subject for a while now. My blog is basically a place to store all our memories, so that the kids can read them all when they get older. It’s basically their journey. Generally I try and record the special memories, the nice happy ones. After all we live in an Instagram world where we always present our best side to the world and it’s good to be positive. However, everyone’s journey has ups and downs and if I don’t record it all then I’d feel dishonest and like I’m saying I’m ashamed of…

A family day in London

At the weekend, we went down south to stay with our friends, Emil and Richard. They live in Hemel Hempstead and we regularly go and stay with them for the weekend. In fact, last time we went down I made a little video on our stay, which you can see here. The reason for this trip was to celebrate their little boys second birthday. They had planned a party on the Sunday, so we decided to make a weekend of it and go down on the Friday night and stay with them for two nights. Oscar has recently been covering…

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream {Review}

My skin really seems to suffer during the colder winter months, so recently I’ve been making a real effort to up my skincare regime. If I’m completely honest, I’m a bit lazy with the whole cleanse, tone and moisturise malarky and often don’t even take my make-up off at the end of the day (gasp!). However, now I’m creeping towards my mid-thirties I know that I need to up my game. I’ve always been a bit of a beauty junkie and particularly love a posh product. Recently I’ve really got into reading various beauty blogs and vlogs to find out…

Easy guide to buying boys swimwear

Excitement is starting to build in our house, as we are off on holiday for two weeks at Easter! We’re going on a caribbean cruise and we can’t wait. Now the shops are starting to stock their new collections, I’ve started to think about any bits we need to buy, particularly for the kids. On holiday we’ll no doubt be spending lots of time on the beach and swimming in the pools on the ship, so it’s important to choose the right swimwear for everyone – the boys are particularly in need of some new swimwear. Although boys are not much choosy when…

The twins are four!

At the beginning of February the twins turned four! I know everyone says it, but I can’t quite believe how fast it’s gone since they were born. I remember it like it was yesterday and yet in September my two babies will actually be starting school! I had booked the day off work and we spent the day eating cake (mainly me) and going crazy at soft play (mainly them), where we also met Simon for lunch (he didn’t have enough holiday left to have the day off). Early evening we went to our local Indian, where we normally celebrate…

When cosmetic surgery is necessary for more …

Cosmetic surgery can often be quite a controversial topic, mainly because people assume it’s about vanity and trying to improve appearance. However, cosmetic surgery actually goes way beyond that and I’m hoping this post will help make people more aware of the ‘other side’ of cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is often used to aesthetically improve one’s appearance, typically to increase confidence, self-esteem and self-image. Cosmetic surgery is often regarded as an elective form of surgery with no underlying medical necessity, but there are instances in which cosmetic surgery is required to alleviate the symptoms of medical conditions, or to improve…
