My favourite floor trends

It’s been quite a long time since I wrote an interior related post and lately I’ve been obsessed with looking at what’s hot on the flooring front! Now don’t get me wrong, I love the flooring that is down in my house but a girl can dream, right? One of the most popular trends at the moment and a personal favourite of mine is natural wood. This is also known as ‘Rustic’ flooring and it has seen a massive increase in popularity over the last couple of years, which certainly shows no signs of slowing down and isn’t really a…

Children’s duvet covers for girls

In February, we decorated our spare room for Henry, so that the twins could each have their own bedroom. And although he seems to float between his new room, Oscar’s room and the room he used to share with Heidi, I think it’s time to update their old room to create a more girly-themed space for Heidi. I’m really excited about decorating Heidi’s room as it the first time I’ve done a girl’s ‘bedroom. I’ve been doing lots of planning and pinning on Pinterest (check out my board here)! And although I haven’t started ordering anything yet, I’ve been doing…

Sprucing up our kitchen with new plants

I love our kitchen, which was massively extended a couple of years ago (you can read all about it and see a few pics here). I also really love having fresh flowers in our kitchen. Either on the island or on the dining table. However, it’s not alway practical to buy fresh flowers every week – I’m not that organised and I think hubby would call them an unnecessary luxury! So, recently I’ve been looking for an alternative, and on our recent visit to the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, I found the perfect solution – some funky plants, which were…

Bedroom makeover – the big reveal

A few months ago I wrote a post, which talked about my plans for revamping our bedroom and shared my inspirations. We finally finished decorating and revamping our bedroom a few months ago and I’ve been desperate to share the final product with you all. Firstly, as much as I don’t want to, it’s probably useful if I share with you the before photo’s. Looking back at these, I can’t believe how dull, drab and cramped our bedroom was; no wonder I never liked it! All the bedrooms in our house are pretty small, so having a wardrobe and drawers…

Interiors to-do list

A couple of years ago we had a large extension on our house and spent quite a lot of our time decorating. However, before we could get every room completely finished we ran out of enthusiasm (and money!), and as a result we’ve just lived with it as it is. Don’t get me wrong, we don’t have cables hanging out or anything like that, we just haven’t accessorised a number of rooms as well as I’d have liked – some rooms have blinds missing and others need some soft furnishings adding. We have quite a few rooms that need finishing off,…

Bedroom makeover inspiration – calming greys

We’ve been planning to give our bedroom a makeover since we completed our big extension in 2014. We made a start during the end of last year, but Christmas got in the way so it’s been a bit of a slow project, which we are hoping to get finished in the next few weeks. Before I do the big reveal, I thought I’d share the look I’m hoping to achieve and some of the things that have inspired me. I’ve included a few images from Pinterest that I love. Check out my Pinterest board for more of these. (Source: Pinterest)…

Toy storage solutions – pick of the best

As much as I love Christmas, part of me always has a bit of a panic about where we are going to fit all the new toys the children get. We are extremely fortunate in that we have quite a large playroom, which we gained when we had our house extended last year. However, with three young children it doesn’t take long to fill it and at the moment it is absolutely cram packed with toys and plastic tat! I’ve started to have a bit of a clear out (3 black bin bags filled already and I’ve only tackled the…

The heart of our home

Last year we had a huge extension which, although was an absolute nightmare at the time, was well worth the stress and upheaval. It’s been approximately 9 months since the main bulk of the work finished and we’re now all getting used to the extra space. I particularly love our kitchen/dining/family space, which really is the heart of our home. For years I’ve always loved houses that have a kitchen/diner that’s really light and airy and provides a great entertaining space. I love watching property and home renovation television programmes and have been so envious when houses have this type…

Project Dressing Room – Phase Three

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll probably know that we’ve been renovating our spare room to turn it into a dressing room. We’ve been doing this in a few phases (read about phase one and phase two) and I’m delighted that we’ve finally finished it and have moved in all of our clothes!! I absolutely love it and it’s turned out exactly as I’d pictured it. So without further ado, I’ll share it with you… As the room is quite small, it’s actually quite difficult to photo! I’ve tried to take the shots from lots of different…

Project Dressing Room – Phase Two (carpet)

A couple of weeks ago we began to redecorate our spare room so that we could use it as a dressing room. As you can imagine I’m VERY excited about the prospect of having a dressing room, even it is very small! With having three young children,we don’t have much spare time, so we’re doing the dressing room in phases over a few weekends. Phase One was actually painting the room, which has made such a difference already- read about it and see some before shots here. Last week we had the new carpet fitted and it really makes such a…

Project Dressing Room – Phase One (painting)

We’ve finally started work on our new dressing room! Anyone who is a regular reader will know that we spent the majority of last year having a large (and stressful) extension to our house. This extension has meant that we now have five bedroom, one more than we actually need. The spare room is pretty small and rather than it becoming a dumping ground, we have decided to turn it into a dressing room, which I’m super excited about. So excited that I’ve been planning what I’ll do with the room for the past few months (check out my Dressing…
