Capturing our moments {Feb – June}

I knew it had been a while since I’d written one of these posts, but when I looked back and saw the last one was written in Feb, I was a bit gobsmacked! Just where has the time gone? The main aim of these posts is to try and capture all the little things that we’ve done every couple of months, so to ensure we’ve captured everything, I’m going to try and cram everything we’ve been up to since Feb into this post (it may be a long one – apologies). The twin’s 4th birthday I can’t actually believe I…

Jamie’s Italian, Nottingham {restaurant review}

We were delighted to be asked to sample the Super Lunch menu at our local Jamie’s Italian, which is in Nottingham. I’ve actually visited before, but have never taken the kids, so thought it would be a great opportunity to see just how family friendly it is. The day we were booked in was particularly dull, dreary and wet, so it was great timing – a lovely little treat to perk us up! We arrived about 5 mins before our 12-noon reservation and were ushered out of the rain, even though they weren’t officially open. We were seated on a…

Capturing our moments {December and January}

It feels like ages since I’ve written one of these posts, in fact it’s been far too long since my last post (must try harder)! We’ve had a pretty busy couple of months. As always, December was manic. January was thankfully less busy. To save lots of waffle in these posts, I’ve decided to make them mainly photo based, with just a little overview. So, here’s what we’ve been up to. December Christmas parties We both go to Simon’s, which is normally a great ‘do’, this year was as good as ever. Mine was also pretty good and was a…

Reflecting on 2016

Although I’m not that into making new year resolutions, as the new year beckons I always like to take a bit of time to reflect on the year gone by. I thought I’d share my reflections with you in my final post of 2016. 2016 has been a pretty good year! We’ve had some brilliant holidays (Norfolk, Dubai, Benahavis and a caribbean Disney Cruise!), I ran the London Marathon (still feels like a dream!), my great nephew was born and I’ve found myself a new job, which I start in the new year. In terms of blogging, I attended my first…

Capturing our moments {October & November}

I’ve been a little quiet on here recently. Once again, life has been silly busy and despite my best intentions I haven’t got round to posting in a while. I have the biggest list of posts that I want to write and share, but it’s that crazy time of year, so blogging is just not happening at the minute! I thought it would be nice to do a little update though of what we’ve been up to recently (and help ease my guilt of the fact that I’ve been neglecting my blog of late) and this actually conincides well with the…

Our Bonfire weekend {including a video}

Life has been a little manic lately, so I haven’t posted on here in a few weeks. I’ve been keen to share with you details of what we got up to for Bonfire weekend, but I’ve really been struggling to get a bit of time to write this post. As I mentioned about a month ago, I’m keen to trying and start capturing our memories on video. To help us to do this, we’ve recently purchased a Go Pro. For Bonfire weekend, we’d planned to visit our friends’ Emily, Richard and their 18 month-old, Freddie, who live in Hemel Hempstead.…

How an Estate Agent Can Help a …

A few of my friends currently rent their houses and the other day I was having a chat with them about how although they are happy with renting for now, in the long-term they really want to buy there own home, so are working towards that goal. I was giving them some advice and thought I’d share it on here too, just in case any of my readers currently rent, but are keen to buy. I am going to explain how your local estate agent can help you to do this. In particular, how they can assist you even if…

Capturing our moments {August & September}

I’ve decided to start doing these roundup posts every other month now. Time seems to go so fast and I struggle to fit in writing them in once a month. The past couple of month’s have been pretty full on, so this post could take a while! I promise not to ramble on though. I’ll try and use photo’s rather than loads of writing. August The first week of August we were still in Benahavis on our lovely summer holiday. The day we returned we went out with friends to celebrate a 40th birthday. It was great catching up with…

A mini uni reunion

At the weekend, I travelled up to Liverpool for a little reunion with the girls I used to live with at uni. I can’t quite believe that this time 15 years I was starting uni! I went to Edge Hill University, which is close to Liverpool. During my first year I lived in halls of residence and had the best time ever! The girls (and boys who lived upstairs) were fab and we had so much fun. We spent many a nights drinking far too much, and many a day sleeping in and missing lectures! Probably similar to most students.…

Losing my way and feeling meh

Since returning from our summer holiday I seem to have lost my way a little. I’ve been eating far too much rubbish, haven’t been running as much and as a result I’ve been grumpy, full of spots and just generally a bit low. I always tend to suffer pretty bad with post-holiday blues. However, this time to try and avoid that post-holiday slump, we decided to organise a couple of weekends away. Although these weekends have been great, they have also meant that instead of jumping straight back on to the healthy living wagon, I’ve been eating and drinking like I’m…

Celebrating 11 years of marriage with a weekend …

At the weekend, Simon and I celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary. For the past few years we have taken advantage of the offer of childcare from our parents to allow us to go away, just the two of us. For this anniversary we decided to visit Manchester for two nights. We both like a good city break. We both like shopping, eating nice food and visiting nice bars, so we often opt for a City break if we get the chance. We travelled up to Manchester on Friday after Simon had finished work. The traffic was pretty awful, so we…
