A couple of weeks ago I posted about my plans to start following the Slimming World plan. I’m now on week three, so thought it was time to post an update. The first week I found quite easy. I ate LOTS! I was, however, a little disappointed to find that I’d only lost 1lb. Once I’d had a think about how much I’d eaten that week, I realised that 1lb wasn’t actually too bad. I’m already a healthy weight and don’t have loads to lose, so I suppose I shouldn’t really complain. Apart from a little blip, last weekend, where…

A few of my friends currently rent their houses and the other day I was having a chat with them about how although they are happy with renting for now, in the long-term they really want to buy there own home, so are working towards that goal. I was giving them some advice and thought I’d share it on here too, just in case any of my readers currently rent, but are keen to buy. I am going to explain how your local estate agent can help you to do this. In particular, how they can assist you even if…

It’s October already? That must mean it’s practically Christmas, and once the shops have emptied the last of their pumpkins, broomsticks and fake spiders, it’s time to think about all that present buying you need to do. It doesn’t matter how many people you have to buy for, this always seems like a stressful task as you try to improve on last years present. For all those ladies out there who love to be organised, this is also the perfect time to pick up bargains for birthdays in future. But how do you decide on what to get people? How…

I’ve decided to start doing these roundup posts every other month now. Time seems to go so fast and I struggle to fit in writing them in once a month. The past couple of month’s have been pretty full on, so this post could take a while! I promise not to ramble on though. I’ll try and use photo’s rather than loads of writing. August The first week of August we were still in Benahavis on our lovely summer holiday. The day we returned we went out with friends to celebrate a 40th birthday. It was great catching up with…

Since coming back from our summer holiday at the beginning of August, I’ve really struggled to lose the weight that I put on. I seem to lose a pound, only to put it back on the week after, which is very frustrating! At the end of November, we are going on holiday for my Mum’s 70th birthday and I’m determined to lose 7lbs, so I’m back to my pre-summer holiday weight! I’ve always struggled to lose weight. I’m happiest with my weight when I weigh around 9st 7lbs, but getting and staying there is a bit of a constant battle.…

At the weekend, I travelled up to Liverpool for a little reunion with the girls I used to live with at uni. I can’t quite believe that this time 15 years I was starting uni! I went to Edge Hill University, which is close to Liverpool. During my first year I lived in halls of residence and had the best time ever! The girls (and boys who lived upstairs) were fab and we had so much fun. We spent many a nights drinking far too much, and many a day sleeping in and missing lectures! Probably similar to most students.…

Last week, when I first thought about writing this post, it felt like autumn had arrived. However, this week it seems like summer isn’t over just yet! As much as I love summer (it’s my most favourite season), I must admit that I do love the change in wardrobe that autumn brings. Spring/summer fashion tends to be bright, bold and more laid back. Whilst autumn fashion is generally brings darker, more muted colours, cosy jumpers, tights, boots and generally a smarter vibe. Basically everything that I love. When September arrives I always tend to start looking around for a few things to update…

Recently I’ve been suffering from post-holiday blues and have been feeling a bit low. As a result I’ve fallen off the healthy living wagon and my skin has suffered. My skin is normally pretty good. However, the past few weeks I’ve had loads of breakouts. It’s also lacked that nice glow that I tend to get when I’m eating better and being good with the exercise. Last week I made the decision to pull myself out of the slump. I’ve started eating better and I’m trying to exercise at least three times a week. In a bid for instant results…

Since returning from our summer holiday I seem to have lost my way a little. I’ve been eating far too much rubbish, haven’t been running as much and as a result I’ve been grumpy, full of spots and just generally a bit low. I always tend to suffer pretty bad with post-holiday blues. However, this time to try and avoid that post-holiday slump, we decided to organise a couple of weekends away. Although these weekends have been great, they have also meant that instead of jumping straight back on to the healthy living wagon, I’ve been eating and drinking like I’m…

I love our kitchen, which was massively extended a couple of years ago (you can read all about it and see a few pics here). I also really love having fresh flowers in our kitchen. Either on the island or on the dining table. However, it’s not alway practical to buy fresh flowers every week – I’m not that organised and I think hubby would call them an unnecessary luxury! So, recently I’ve been looking for an alternative, and on our recent visit to the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, I found the perfect solution – some funky plants, which were…

On Friday me, my Mum and my Sister-in-Law took all the children to the zoo for the day. We went to Twycross Zoo, which is about 30 mins from where we live. Since returning from our holiday a few weeks ago, I’ve been a bit grumpy with post-holiday blues. However, our day at the zoo certainly help cheer me up. The weather was lovely, the children were really well behaved and the zoo was perfect for keeping us all entertained. A really great day. Here are a few photo’s to capture the memory: J xx
