A couple of years ago we had a large extension on our house and spent quite a lot of our time decorating. However, before we could get every room completely finished we ran out of enthusiasm (and money!), and as a result we’ve just lived with it as it is. Don’t get me wrong, we don’t have cables hanging out or anything like that, we just haven’t accessorised a number of rooms as well as I’d have liked – some rooms have blinds missing and others need some soft furnishings adding. We have quite a few rooms that need finishing off,…

This week has been a week of Sports Days, and thankfully the weather has been kind! Although I don’t think they warrant a post on their own, it’s nice to capture them and this weekly My Captured Moment post is the perfect place. On Monday Oscar has his Sports Day. He was super proud to come third in his running race. At his school they do team events, but finish with a few running races, which are good fun. On Thursday it was the twins first pre-school Sports Day, which consisted of lots of run races. I was completely shocked…

I’ve finally gone and done it!! I’ve moved my blog over to WordPress and gone self-hosted! I’ve been contemplating it for over a year now, but I’m not the most tech savvy person and, if I’m honest, I was more than a little scared! However, I recently attended Blogcamp and there was lots of talk of fantastic plugins that I wasn’t able to use on my old Blogger platform. I also attended a session presented by Emma who blogs over at EmmaDrew.info , and afterwards discovered that she offers Blogger to WordPress migrations, the perfect solution for me! I also had…

This week’s My Captured Moment is a few photo’s from Father’s Day, which was last week. We’d prepared presents the night before, so the kids were all super excited when they woke up and couldn’t wait to ‘help’ Simon open his presents. We went to Harvester for breakfast, and although the food was okay, the children were not. They were all little monkeys, so we decided to needed to get out for a couple of walks, so they could burn off some of their crazy energy! We had arranged to pick my Dad up for an afternoon walk, so before…

When I’d first had the twins, I remember someone saying to me that she could always spot parents with three or more kids as they were more laid back than those who had one or two children. I didn’t really get it at the time, but it’s something that has always stuck with me and I think she might be right (she was a mum of three, so she had a good insight). Not because we are naturally laid back, but because we simply have to be in order to survive being outnumbered!! I’m actually a natural worrier and perfectionist,…

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now, but I never seemed to be able to get round to it. However, although I’m posting well after our trip took place, it’s a trip that I want to capture as we had such a lovely time. During February half-term we went to Norfolk for a week long break. I’d wanted to visit Norfolk for quite a while, so I was looking forward to exploring the area. We’ve travelled quite a bit and as a result I’m really particular about where we stay whenever we go away. We had…

I love beauty products and over the years have certainly tried a fair few. I love the thrill of trying a new product or discovering a new brand. As the beauty industry continues to evolve, there are always plenty of new products to try! However, now I’m in my thirties, I’ve found that I am now actually quite loyal to certain products – the ones that work! I thought I’d share with you my most favourite beauty products. I use these products on a regular basis and, unless I come across a better alternative, I think I’ll use them forever!…

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that at the end of every month I normally do a post about what we’ve been up to that month – a bit of a round up really. However, with my recent marathon training and the generally business of life with three kids, I haven’t managed to do on since January! Rather than do a post for each month I’ve missed, I thought I’d do a bit of a roundup post as a bit of a catch up. My memory is rubbish since having the kids, so I’m not sure…

This week’s My Captured Moment is a shot taken on our recent holiday to Dubai, which you can read about here. We had an amazing time and I think this photo captures that. The boys had gone to the kids club for a couple of hours but Heidi wanted to stay with us, so her and Simon went for a little walk around the hotel, which is when he captured this. J x

During the May half-term break we went on holiday to Dubai. Simon and I have been a couple of times in the past – 10 years ago, pre-kids and five years ago when Oscar was 11 months old. Both times we loved it. The hotels are luxurious, the shopping is amazing, the beaches are beautiful and at just over six hours, the flight isn’t too much of an ordeal. The only downside, and probably the reason we haven’t been in five years is that it can be quite expensive for flights and hotels. However, on this occasion Simon managed to…

A couple of weeks ago I attended the launch event of the new Hairven salon in Beeston, Nottingham. I’ve been to the original Hairven in Gedling a few times and have always been impressed. However, I live near to Beeston, so was quite excited when I heard that Hairven had chosen Beeston to open their next salon. Being local, I’d seen the building being developed and it looked fab, so I couldn’t wait to see the finished salon. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! The Beeston salon is a lot larger than the Gedling one. However, like the Gedling salon, the contemporary,…
