AD: We were invited by Red Kangaroo in return for a review. However, as always our review gives our honest thoughts and opinions.

We were recently invited to Red Kangaroo Nottingham to see what we thought. The kids have been to parties at Red Kangaroo before, but this time was the first time we’d visited as a family. Here’s what we thought.

Red Kangaroo is basically a trampoline park and I think the Nottingham one has been opened around 18 months. It’s situated  on an industrial estate, about 5 mins from Junction 26 of the M1 and has plenty of parking, which is always a bonus.

When we arrived we filled out the waivers on our phones, you can do this in advance to save time, but I hadn’t been very organised. You can also fill the waivers out on iPads in the reception area, but we just did it on our phones. It didn’t take very long at all.

We checked in and we all got given socks to wear. Check in was really quick and we were then taken into a room for a quick safety briefing, which everyone has to attend before starting a session.

Once we’d done the briefing, we put all our things in the complimentary lockers, which are really handy. We’d taken a couple of pound coins with us as we thought we’d have to pay, but were pleasantly surprised to find that you can use them for free.

The main area is huge and there are so many things to do. There’s obviously lots of different types of trampolines, but there’s lots of other stuff too. Activities include: a  Wipeout Game, a mega Ninja climbing course, tumble track for super-springy somersaults (not that any of us can do somersaults!),  a cardio reaction wall to test endurance and reaction skills, 3 gigantic foam pits featuring a gladiator beam, slides, a Slam Dunk arena, a half pipe area and a Dodgeball court where Oscar thought it would be funny to throw balls at his brother and sister – little monkey!

Oscar loved the Ninja climbing course, the gladiator beam, the Slam Dunk arena and the Dodgeball court. Heidi loved the Air Bag and spent ages jumping off the platforms. Henry, who is quite cautious preferred the standard trampolines and the foam pits. Red Kangaroo Nottingham Red Kangaroo Nottingham Red Kangaroo Nottingham Red Kangaroo Nottingham Red Kangaroo Nottingham Red Kangaroo Nottingham

The kids loved it. My three are 9 and 6 and there really was something for us all. What did really surprise us was how much Simon and I enjoyed it. The place is really spacious, bright, modern and clean and we felt it was a great way to spend quality time together as a family without anyone moaning, which often happens if we head out for a walk at a weekend. It’s also a great way of getting a bit of exercise in without realising it!

After we’d built up a sweat and a thirst we headed to the cafe area upstairs where we had drinks and some snacks. Prices are pretty reasonable and there is a good selection of food and drinks. The kids all had slushy ice drinks, which were £2.50 each. I was pleasantly surprised to find that these were in fact sugar free. I didn’t actually realise you could get sugar free slushy drinks, so this was a bit of a bonus.

The cafe is large, modern and clean and we didn’t have any trouble finding a seat. Also, if you just wanted to pay for the kids to bounce/play you can see the main area very clearly from the cafe, so it’s pretty easy to keep tabs on where the kids are. There are plenty of staff around too and they were really on the ball to make sure everyone was following the rules.

We spent about an two hours there in total, which included time checking in and watching the briefing and time afterwards having drinks and snacks. We had a great time and would definitely recommend for a bit of active family fun.

Red Kangaroo run a range of sessions that can be booked online in advance. We attended the Kanga Bounce session, which was well suited for our family and costs £9.95 per person. There are also Family, Tots and Calm sessions available too, these are slightly cheaper.
