Last week, when I first thought about writing this post, it felt like autumn had arrived. However, this week it seems like summer isn’t over just yet! As much as I love summer (it’s my most favourite season), I must admit that I do love the change in wardrobe that autumn brings. Spring/summer fashion tends to be bright, bold and more laid back. Whilst autumn fashion is generally brings darker, more muted colours, cosy jumpers, tights, boots and generally a smarter vibe. Basically everything that I love.
When September arrives I always tend to start looking around for a few things to update my wardrobe. I hate saying goodbye to summer, so it’s a great way to cheer myself up (that’s my excuse anyway!).
Here are my top autumn fashion picks for 2016:
1. Matalan – £25/2. Oasis – £30/3. Tesco – £25/4. Oasis – £28/
5. Boden – £54.50/6. New Look – £22/7. Matalan – £20
1. The bomber jacket
I’d describe myself as quite classic when it comes to fashion, so this is quite trendy for me. However, when I saw this pink bomber jacket in Matalan for only £25, I thought it was worth giving it a try. I haven’t braved it yet, but when I do I’m planning to style it just like it is in the pic or with a basic white t-shirt.
2. A bit of gold
Gold seems to feature quite a lot at the moment and I absolutely love this top from Oasis. It would be great for a night on the town, paired with leather leggings and a leather biker jacket. It would also look great with black jeans and heels for a rare date night!
3. The pinafore dress
I love all the pinafore dresses that are around at the minute. They would work perfectly for work, with a nice blouse underneath. It would also look great with boots and a polo neck at the weekend. This one from Tesco is a bargain at £25.
4. The ruffle jumper
Ruffles are everywhere at the minute. I really like this jumper from Oasis, which has a ruffly neck and sleeves. This is so versatile and could be worn with jeans, a skirt of nice trousers for work.
5. The white shirt
A classic and so versatile. I could wear this for work or with some ripped jeans for a more casual look. The options are endless. I definitely think it’s worth investing a decent one. I love this one from Boden, which is £54.50
6. Ripped jeans
I keep seeing people wearing ripped jeans and I think they look so cool. I’ve recently been thinking that sometimes I dress a bit to old for my age, so these would be perfect for making my wardrobe a bit more modern. I’d like a black pair like these ones from New Look and also a blue pair.
7. The denim dress
This denim dress is the perfect in-between seasons dress. If the weather’s nice it could be worn with some nice wedges. Once the weather starts to get colder it cold be worn with tights, boots and a leather biker jacket. I really like dresses as you don’t have to think too hard about what to put with it. Saying that, I don’t wear many dresses, but I’m going to start trying to wear them more often. I love this one from New Look, a bargain at £20!
So, there you have it my autumn fashion picks.
What are yours?

I’m just about to do a similar post as I’ve just had a little Autumn shopping spree. I managed to get lots of nice things, it’s lovely having a few new things to wear. It gives you a little spring in your step! #twinklytuesday
Buying new clothes certainly makes autumn and winter more bearable! Thanks for commenting x
I’ve also just discovered ripped jeans. Mine literally developed a hole through use and then one day I bent down and it went all across my knee. I decided to go with it and embrace my inner 25 year old. However disaster struck, after a holiday which involved walking well in excess of 10k steps everyday I then discovered I’d wore a hole on the inner thigh – high up!! Lesson to everyone out there, if they’re wearing thin on the knee they’ll be thin in other places too!!
Ha ha ha! I’ve had the same with a pair of my jeans – not such a good look! x
