Simple ways to freshen up your home

If your home is starting to feel a little stale and you want to freshen things up a bit, there are lots of simple things you can do to give the place a new lease of life and increase your enjoyment of the space, as you will see below.

Spring clean

It might not be spring right now, but one of the best ways to freshen up your home is undoubtedly to declutter the place and give it a thorough clean. The less unnecessary stuff you have cluttering up the place, the more spacious and fresh it will feel, and a deep clean including professional carpet cleaning solutions, will help to make the place feel a bit more like new. Yes, it will take a bit of effort and elbow grease, but it will be so worth it.

Create a fresh focal point

A really simple way to make your home feel fresh is by creating a new focal point that will draw the eye and ad a bit of interest to the place. A good way to do this is to choose a table or sideboard and then gather together three similar, but not the same, objects, such as plants, ornaments or even photos, and arrange them n groups of three. This is a less permanent way of creating a focal point than adding a feature wall or whatever, so you can easily change it up next time you want to freshen the place up.

Move the furniture

It’s surprising just how different a space can feel when you move the furniture around. It gives you a new vantage point and new space configuration that can make it feel like a whole new room without you even having to spend a single penny.

Try a new colour palette

If you do have the time and inclination to do a bit of serious redecorating, there is nothing that will freshen up the space more effectively than choosing a completely new colour palette to the one you currently have. If the room is dark now, repaint it in light hues or vice versa. If you don’t have time to redecorate it all, simply add an accent wall in a colour you’ve always wanted to try.

Reupholster the furniture

Reupholstering sofas, chairs and other soft furnishings is not nearly as difficult ad you might think and it is a cost-effective way to give your old couched a new lease of life. Find a fabric you love and watch a few tutorials and before you know it your furniture will be looking as good as new again.

Treat yourself to new accessories

From fluffy new towels for the bathroom to plump new cushions for the couch, treating yourself to new and comfy accessories is the perfect way to finish off any home refresh project and do some serious relaxing.

Freshening up your home, as you can see, is actually pretty simple and often very cheap, so why not make a few changes today?
