5 easy ways to update your home in a weekend

Spring is coming, and if there is one thing that is guaranteed to brush out the cobwebs left over from winter is having a good spring clean and making some home decor changes to freshen up your home. However, not everyone has the time or finds to make significant changes, but that doesn’t mean you cannot make an impact. Check out these easy updates that can be completed during a weekend!

Declutter

Before you do anything else, have a good declutter. This removes all the little things cluttering up your space, whether physical or mental. You might not know it, but clutter can cause all kinds of problems and will leave you feeling uninspired and frustrated. Remove everything that doesn’t belong in your home and put it in storage—this may seem like a lot at first, but you’ll be surprised at how much better your space feels when it’s not cluttered with items you don’t need.

Add New Lighting

Lighting is one of the easiest, cheapest, and most effective ways to update your home. Old lights can make a space feel dated. Instead, swap out old bulbs with great new ones that better match the vibe of your room. You could even invest in dimmer switches that are compatible with your current lighting fixtures!

Change FittingsĀ

If you want to make easy changes and won’t break the bank, change fittings like door handles and light switches. This is a small change but can significantly impact your home. A simple way to update your decor is by changing the door handles and light switches- you can do this cheaply with a quick trip to your hardware store. You could also buy some kitchen accessories or items for your living room- this would make a major difference in terms of room decoration and functionality.

Lay New Flooring In One Room

If you have decided to make just one change in your home, laying new flooring from amtico flooring in one room is a great option. You can choose from anything from laminate, hardwood, cork, bamboo or vinyl. You can choose to lay the new flooring yourself or hire professionals to do the job for you, although professional fitters can add to the cost of new flooring.

If you choose to lay flooring yourself, make sure you have all the appropriate tools before starting and are confident you know what you are doing. You can find tutorials online for pretty much anything these days, including laying different flooring styles.

Tidy Up Your Garden

If you have a garden, now is the time to tidy it up and make it look as good as possible. Start by taking out any dead plants or weeds on your lawn and tidying up any unruly edges. Move on to your garden furniture. If it’s made of wood, give it a nice coat of varnish and sealant to protect it from the elements. Finally, move over to your pots and planters. If they’re made of plastic, cover them in paint or rust-proof paint and if they’re made of metal, give them a coat of sealant too.
