A quick guide to everyday tech essentials

Today, most people are almost dependent on technology. From shopping lists to completing employment contracts and, of course, entertainment, there are many pieces of everyday tech that you use pretty much all the time. From power banks to storage, here are some examples.

Smartphones, Of Course

Where would we be without the smartphone? As the home PC did for GenX and older Millennials, the smartphone has revolutionised how everyone goes about their day, especially Gen-Z. You can do almost anything on a modern smartphone, including making a living. And you don’t even have to use your hands to answer a phone anymore because you can use a new or reconditioned Apple Watch to speak through, just like the Hoff did in Knight Rider!

Portable Power Banks

Smartphones are handy for just about anything, but they aren’t perfect. One of the more disappointing things about a modern smartphone is the charge time, especially if you use it a lot. But you don’t have to be caught short in public anymore (no, not peeing yourself) as there are many handy portable power banks you can choose from. You can charge these up, and they store the power. All you need to do then is plug in your smartphone cable to transfer the charge.

Wearable Everyday Tech

There are over 1.1 billion wearable devices in use all over the world. That means we are taking the once-niche topic of wearables more seriously than ever. But what are the most useful wearables? Some of the best-selling wearable devices are fitness trackers designed for health and motivation goals. Of course, we also love to use AirPods and similar devices to listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks. And VR gaming is like being transported to another world!

Encrypted Cold Storage

Devices such as laptops and tablets are handy for working on the go. But you may have a ton of sensitive data on your devices, whether you work for a small business, a large organisation, or yourself. You have a responsibility to keep personal and sensitive data safe from hackers, so you could be liable for what happens when it is stolen. Software is good. But you can maximise your data safety with encrypted cold storage, i.e., an offline USB device that is unhackable!

Spare Data and Charging Cables

Many of the devices that we use and are dependent upon require certain things. This includes cables. Cables are primarily used for either charging or transferring data. USB smartphone cables can do both, but older ones may be pretty slow. It is always best to use the cable that comes with the device. However, it isn’t uncommon to lose these. So, it is recommended that you always purchase a spare data or charging cable to avoid some of the headaches.

Summary

Smartphones are so useful that they have become the most valuable everyday tech item you can use. However, you can also use wearables such as Bluetooth headphones. But the cables your devices use can get lost, so spare cables are also necessary and pretty useful in a pinch.
