Capturing our moments – July

Capturing our moments – July

Whenever I sit down to write this monthly roundup, I always look through the photo’s on my phone to remind me of what we’ve been up to. It’s really lovely to reflect at the end of each month. Looking back on what we got up to in July, it is clear that we’ve certainly packed a lot in!!

At the beginning of the month we went to Alton Towers for the day. The kids loved Cbeebies land and we managed to dodge the rain. I’ve always loved Alton Towers, although I was disappointed to find that lots of the rides were closed or being refurbished. Simon, being the crazy guy that he is, rode the infamous Smiler, which he loved. I’m a complete scardy cat, so there is no chance of getting me on it!

At the beginning of the month we also went strawberry picking, but due to the rubbish weather we weren’t very successful. We did visit a lovely little diary farm on the way home though, where we picked up fresh milk, eggs and super yummy ice cream!

Towards the middle of July Heidi got the dreaded Chicken Pox. Although her spots were quite bad, she wasn’t poorly with them, it just meant we were housebound for a few days. It also meant that she had to miss her pre-school summer show. I wasn’t sure how Henry was going to cope, taking part without Heidi, but he was fine. I did have a major panic that Henry would get them just in time for our holiday, but bizarrely he hasn’t had them (yet!).

Whilst me and the twins were housebound, Simon and Oscar ran the Subway Family 5K. Oscar managed to do it in just under 35 minutes, which is a brilliant time. He was super proud and has since wanted to come running with me a few times, which is lovely. One of the reasons I run is to inspire my children, so I’m really pleased that it seems to be working.

July was also the month of Simon’s 40th birthday, so we’ve had a night on the town with friends, a family meal and a little surprise gathering on the day, all of which were lovely. Surprisingly Simon was actually fine about turning 40, he said he was more bothered about turning 30 then 40!

Also, in July I went to my Niece’s baby shower. She is expecting her first baby boy on 28th August, so the countdown has begun! She’s had an awful pregnancy, full of sickness and worries about premature labour, so at one point we weren’t even sure she’d make it to the shower!

To round off the month, we went on holiday to Benahavis for two weeks. We’ve been going there for the last four years and absolutely love it. We went the day after Simon’s birthday, so we were a bit bleary eyed, when we were picked up to go to the airport at 3am! Whilst we were away it was my birthday, which we spent on the beach and was really lovely. I’m planning on writing a dedicated post, so keep an eye out for that one.

Phew! I think that’s everything. July was pretty busy for us, so it was a good job we had a holiday at the end to do a bit of relaxing!

How was your July?

Ah Happy 40th Simon! We love Alton Towers too and I must admit, I’m also one of those crazy people who loves Smiler, although not the annoying song they play as you wait to get on!! Great memories of a busy and special month. Thank you so much for linking up to #MyCapturedMoment xxx
