We were recently invited to the launch night of Juni Nottingham. A new gin bar based in Nottingham city centre. I’m a massive fan of gin, so jumped at the opportunity to attend.
Juni offers around 20 different gins and has three of its own signature gins – a dry gin, a plum and raspberry gin and a juniper cask aged gin. They also offer a selection of gin cocktails.
At the launch night the dry gin and the plum and raspberry gin were the two gins on offer. I tried the plum and raspberry gin, which was delicious. Simon had the dry gin, which was nice, but I definitely preferred the sweeter plum and raspberry gin.
The bar also has a gin lab, where you can enjoy a gin making master class and make your very own bottle of gin. This sounds like great fun, but it is quite pricy at £100 per person, although you do get nibbles and the bottle of gin that you create. It would certainly make a fab gift for a gin lover.
The bar also offers food, which I believe is small plates of tapas style nibbles. Whilst there wasn’t loads of food on offer at the launch night, the few bits I tried were absolutely delicious.
The evening was really busy, so it was difficult to fully appreciate the decor, so I think a return visit is in order to fully appreciate the place. I think it’s probably the perfect place to go on a date night or with a girlfriend who you want to have a good natter with. When it’s not packed with people I think it will be quite a sophisticated and elegant place to enjoy great drinks and tasty food.
Next time I visit, I’m looking forward to trying one of the gin cocktails!
