The twins’ two year review

The twins’ two year review

Last week the twins had their two year development review.

The twins played with various toys whilst I chatted to the health visitor and answered various questions about each of them.

I was a little worried about Henry’s speech. I know I shouldn’t compare them, but when you have twins it’s hard not to. Heidi’s speech is coming on really well, in fact you can virtually have a conversation with her, where as Henry tends to use single words with the odd one or two together “More milk” is a usual phrase!

After chatting with the health visitor it was clear that Henry’s speech is as it should be for his age. Heidi’s is just a little more advanced.

We ran through the questionnaire, which included questions such as:

Can they eat using a fork?
Do they line up toys in a row?
Can they walk up and down the stairs holding someone’s hand?
Can they turn pages in a book?
Do they understand simple instructions?

Fortunately they are doing everything they should be!

They then had to be weighed and measured. Heidi was reasonably compliant, whilst Henry took a little more persuading! We got there in the end and both are where they should be according to their little red books.

Having been through the review before, with Oscar, I didn’t really have any concerns but it’s nice to have a health professional confirm that they are doing everything that they should be.

It was quite nice to have a bit of time to just focus on the twins. They certainly amused the health visitor when they started scrapping over who was going to go in the play house and who was going to play with which set of building blocks! They certainly are comical at times!

Hurrah! Sounds like a fab review. I know what you mean, I was quite pleased to have some things confirmed from a professional. And to be told they were doing just great (by a third party) is so nice! They are coming on so well, congrats Momma!! Jess xx

Glad it went so well, I think sometimes it's nice to have someone confirm that they are doing good, even if you know it yourself! I don't know how mine will ever stay still to be weighed and measured 🙂 #multiplemadness

It is nice for some to confirm that everything is as it should be. The weighing and measuring took a bit of persuading! x

Its very, VERY, hard not to compare them.

And the tests are always a bit stressful, as you watch the "tests" and wonder… "are they doing well".. and wonder why they aren't doing things you know they can do!

    Thanks for posting.

I know they never seem to 'perform' when you want them too!!

That's amazing that you've had a review! I haven't had my twins checked since they were 8 months old!! Did they contact you or have you been taking them to see the health visitor anyway? I've been a little worried about B's speech too funnily enough! Maybe I should seek out the health visitor?! #multiplemadness

Yes, they got in touch with us. We also had a similar review at 12 months. I'm sure that's supposed to be the same across the UK. I would definitely get in touch with them! x

It's always hard not to compare isn't it! I still do it subconsciously now mine are teenagers and have to stop myself! So glad to hear they are both doing well, thanks for linking up with #MultipleMadness xxx
