Working mum guilt

As I’ve mentioned before I work a 28 hour week. Now this normally works well for us and provides the perfect balance. However, throw poorly kids into the mix and it all goes a little bit wrong.

Say hello to guilt! Guilt that I’m not at work and missing important meetings when the child who I’ve had the day off to be with is running round like nothing was ever wrong, guilt when I go back to work wondering if they really are well enough for you to leave them, guilt that you’re not at home all the time. It’s just not a great feeling.

There’s lots of debate about stay at home vs working when you’re a mum, but I personally think it’s a very personal decision and people should not be judged on what they choose to do. I love working and although everything normally works well, sometimes it all goes very wrong!!
