A few months ago I wrote a post, which talked about my plans for revamping our bedroom and shared my inspirations.
We finally finished decorating and revamping our bedroom a few months ago and I’ve been desperate to share the final product with you all.
Firstly, as much as I don’t want to, it’s probably useful if I share with you the before photo’s. Looking back at these, I can’t believe how dull, drab and cramped our bedroom was; no wonder I never liked it!
All the bedrooms in our house are pretty small, so having a wardrobe and drawers in our room made it very cramped.
Since having our extension we now have an extra bedroom, which I’ve converted into a dressing room – I absolutely love it. It also means that we can keep our clothes in there rather than having to have clothes storage in our bedroom.
When planning our bedroom, I was keen to try and continue the look and style used in the dressing rooms to try and tie the rooms together a little. We did, However, go for a slightly paler grey paint and a slightly lighter carpet, as I was keen to make the room as light and airy as possible.
I really love the B&Q Colours paint, so we went for light rain on the walls, which I’m really please with. We painted the doors and skirting boards in white satin and also changed sockets, switches and door handles to a more modern silver.
As we no longer needed to accommodate a wardrobe and drawers, we decided to get a new kingsize bed. We spent quite a bit of money on the bed. However, it was worth the extra expense as it’s so comfy.
I got the fabric headboard from eBay, which cost around £80. I wanted the room to look like a boutique hotel, and I think the headboard really helps achieve this.
We kept our old white curtains, but replaced the curtain pole to match the one in our dressing room. It has crystal balls on the end, which gives it a bit of a luxury feel.
I bought two white bedside tables from Ikea and pimped them a bit with crystal handles from Home Bargains, which were so cheap at £2.99. I added two statement bedside lights from Wayfair, along with candles and decorative photo frames to add to the luxury feel.
Apart from a few accessories on the bedside tables and windowsill (I can’t resist The White Company stuff!), I’ve tried to keep it as clutter free as possible.
I’ve always really liked plain white bedding, so I got some bfrom TK Maxx with a high thread count and then added a bit of grey using cushions from Dunelm and Wayfair.
I really loved the finished version. It is calm and airy, whilst still feeling luxurious and grown-up (a must when the rest of the house is overrun by small people!).
