It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything to do with the dreaded COVID-19, but I wanted to capture today as I’m sure it’s a big one that we’ll want to look back on.
We finally have a COVID-19 vaccine!!!
It was announced last Wednesday that the vaccine has been approved and today the first vaccines were administered. The first person in the world to have the vaccine (apart from those involved in the clinical trials obviously) was a lady named Margaret Keenan.
Currently over 80s, people in care homes and healthcare workers are the first priority and then the vaccination will be offered to others in various priority groups.
I’m so glad that a vaccine is now available and hope that we can soon return to some sense of normality. The toll on people not being able to see friends and family has been and continues to be really tough.
It’s definitely been a rollercoaster of a year. I’ve learnt a lot about myself and I’ve realised that there are some things I don’t want to return back to, so I’m grateful for that. However, I’m glad that soon we will hopefully get our freedom back. I realise this probably won’t be for a few months yet, but hope that this time next year we have a choice about whether we go to that Christmas party or meet up with friends.
The end is finally in sight!
