Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation {Review}

I’m a little late to the party on this one as I’ve always been really happy with my foundation, so was always of the mind set of “if it isn’t broken, why fix it?”.  However, I’ve really fallen in love with the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, so couldn’t resist posting a review. I’d been using Clinique’s Super Moisture Makeup for quite a few years. However, recently I thought it was starting to look a bit mask like and I felt that the glowy effect was starting to look a bit unnatural. I’ve always classed my skin as being dry,…

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream {Review}

My skin really seems to suffer during the colder winter months, so recently I’ve been making a real effort to up my skincare regime. If I’m completely honest, I’m a bit lazy with the whole cleanse, tone and moisturise malarky and often don’t even take my make-up off at the end of the day (gasp!). However, now I’m creeping towards my mid-thirties I know that I need to up my game. I’ve always been a bit of a beauty junkie and particularly love a posh product. Recently I’ve really got into reading various beauty blogs and vlogs to find out…

When cosmetic surgery is necessary for more …

Cosmetic surgery can often be quite a controversial topic, mainly because people assume it’s about vanity and trying to improve appearance. However, cosmetic surgery actually goes way beyond that and I’m hoping this post will help make people more aware of the ‘other side’ of cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is often used to aesthetically improve one’s appearance, typically to increase confidence, self-esteem and self-image. Cosmetic surgery is often regarded as an elective form of surgery with no underlying medical necessity, but there are instances in which cosmetic surgery is required to alleviate the symptoms of medical conditions, or to improve…

My new hair style – the bob

For a couple of years now, I’ve been attempting to grow my hair. When I made the decision to grow it I had visions of long, lustrous locks. However, the reality hasn’t really lived up to my expectations. Firstly, longer hair takes so much longer to dry and style, this coupled with the fact that I have three children to sort in the morning’s, is not really a great combination! Secondly, it takes so long to grow! I’ve got quite thin hair, so the long, thick locks that I envisioned could probably only realistically be achieved if I had extensions.…

Adding a glow to my skin with …

Recently I’ve been suffering from post-holiday blues and have been feeling a bit low. As a result I’ve fallen off the healthy living wagon and my skin has suffered. My skin is normally pretty good. However, the past few weeks I’ve had loads of breakouts. It’s also lacked that nice glow that I tend to get when I’m eating better and being good with the exercise. Last week I made the decision to pull myself out of the slump. I’ve started eating better and I’m trying to exercise at least three times a week. In a bid for instant results…

My beauty must-haves

I love beauty products and over the years have certainly tried a fair few. I love the thrill of trying a new product or discovering a new brand. As the beauty industry continues to evolve, there are always plenty of new products to try! However, now I’m in my thirties, I’ve found that I am now actually quite loyal to certain products – the ones that work! I thought I’d share with you my most favourite beauty products. I use these products on a regular basis and, unless I come across a better alternative, I think I’ll use them forever!…

Hairven Beeston launch event

A couple of weeks ago I attended the launch event of the new Hairven salon in Beeston, Nottingham. I’ve been to the original Hairven in Gedling a few times and have always been impressed. However, I live near to Beeston, so was quite excited when I heard that Hairven had chosen Beeston to open their next salon. Being local, I’d seen the building being developed and it looked fab, so I couldn’t wait to see the finished salon. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! The Beeston salon is a lot larger than the Gedling one. However, like the Gedling salon, the contemporary,…

Review: Bee Sting Facial at Hairven

As you may recall, in December, for the first time in over 15 years I had my hair done in a hair salon rather than at home. I decided to try out Hairven, a hair and beauty salon that is shaking up the Nottingham beauty scene. You can read more about my fantastic experience here. I really enjoyed my experience there, so as you can imagine I was delighted when Hairven invited me to sample their Bee Sting Facial. I’ve heard lots about this facial. It’s a bit of a celeb favourite and apparently Kate Middleton is a big fan!…

A pre-Christmas hair pamper

I haven’t been had my hair done in a salon for years, probably about 16 if I think back. I’ve always tended to use mobile hairdressers as it just seems more convenient. However, I’ve recently been hearing lots of fantastic things about a salon based on the other side of Nottingham, so I thought I’d treat myself and give it a try. Source: Hairven I’d forgotten what a luxury it is to visit a salon – coffee (lattes, cappuccinos!) , magazines, a head massage and a massage from the special vibrating chair whilst I had my hair washed. I don’t…
