A couple of years ago we had a large extension on our house and spent quite a lot of our time decorating. However, before we could get every room completely finished we ran out of enthusiasm (and money!), and as a result we’ve just lived with it as it is.
Don’t get me wrong, we don’t have cables hanging out or anything like that, we just haven’t accessorised a number of rooms as well as I’d have liked – some rooms have blinds missing and others need some soft furnishings adding.
We have quite a few rooms that need finishing off, which I think is almost putting me off, as I just don’t know where to start!
To try and make a start, I’ve decided to put together a list. I love lists, so I’m hoping it will help me focus. Plus getting stuff ticked off, will make me feel like I’m achieving something and getting somewhere!
So, here’s our list:
More storage in the playroom – I really like the Ikea Stuva range from Ikea
Make the kitchen/diner sitting area more homely
We already have a grey sofa, but the area is still quite empty, so I’m thinking possibly a grey occasion chair with some bright funky cushions, and a geometric or chevron rug in either grey or a bright yellow or green – Wayfair have got some fab ones! I think some sort of unit or bookcase would also provide some useful storage.
Piped Edge Cushion by Kate Sproston Design – Not on The High Street
Order and put up blinds in the utility room, downstairs toilet and ensuite
Our utility room and downstairs toilet both have grey decor, so I’d quite like some bright blinds to add a bit of colour.
Put up a curtain pole and curtains in the spare room
This room will eventually become Henry’s, so the curtains will either be neutral or boy-themed! I really love Next for curtains as they’re very reasonably priced. I love these star curtains!
Decorate our lounge – I’m thinking teal and copper!
I’m still figuring exactly what to do with our lounge so I’ve been doing lots of pinning on Pinterest!
Having written everything down, it actually doesn’t seem that bad!
We’re off on holiday in a couple of weeks, but once we return the plan is to tackle one item per month! I’ll keep you updated on our progress!

I love that cushion and ooh teal and copper sounds amazing, don’t you find as soon as you get it all done it just needs doing again like a circle of never ending jobs, or is that just me obsessed with changing things, I have a similar rug in teal and I love it xx
I know Sarah, it’s a constant circle of never ending jobs! Thanks for commenting. Jemma x
