Celebrating 13 years together

Last Monday, it was 13 years since Simon and I had been on our very first date. We celebrated by having a rare date night. We went to a BBQ restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try for a while, the food was fab and it was lovely to spend some quality time together and reflect on the past 13 years. We also talked about our very first date… We had known each other a while. It’s quite a complicated story, but I knew Simon through his sister, Vanessa. She was, at the time, the girlfriend of my best friend’s older brother. In…

A day at the races

On Saturday we went to Ascot races with my parents. It was their 50th Wedding Anniversary in April, so for their gift we’d booked a day at the races. Obviously we couldn’t let them go alone, so Simon and I went too! We had an absolutely amazing day. The weather, which had been a bit hit and miss all week, was lovely. The journey down to the hotel, was uneventful and there was a great atmosphere at the course.   Me and Simon in our finest – I love getting glammed up! Despite searching for a new dress, in the end I decided to…

A trip to Portugal

Last week we went to Vilamoura, which is in Portugal. We went a couple of years ago for my Dad’s 70th birthday and had a great time, so when decided with my parents where they wanted to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary, Vilamoura seemed like the perfect choice. We set off on Good Friday, which was the day of my mum and dad’s anniversary. The flight was at 8.30am, so we had an early start. Simon and I were both tired as Oscar had been ill just as we were going to bed the night before, with what appeared to…

Half term adventures – Twycross Zoo

During last week’s half term, my mum and I decided to take all the kids to the zoo for the day. Twycross Zoo is about half an hour drive from us and we haven’t been for a few years, so I was really looking forward to it. When we first arrived we decided to sit in the relatively new Himalaya area and have a quick drink before we went in to explore. The Himalaya area is lovely and modern and I was looking forward to returning for lunch. Once we’d paid our entrance fee (around £45 for the five of…

Alton Towers Santa Visit

We had a great day at Alton Towers today. We’d heard great things about the Santa Sleepover and when we called to enquire, we discovered that you can also just visit for the day. As we only live an hour away it was a much better option for us. We arrived at 10am. We parked in the disabled parking area (it’s allowed) and headed to the park. Only CBeebies land and Mutiny Bay are open on these special winter days, but that suited us just fine. We headed straight to CBeebies land, where we tried most of the rides. It…

A day of rest and relaxation – Eden …

Last Friday it was my lovely mum’s birthday. She does so much for us, so I always like to make sure I buy her something extra nice. This year I decided to treat her (and me) to a day at Eden Hall Spa at Nottingham, the week after. I love having a spa day and Eden Hall has always been my favourite, so I was super excited to go back. Upon arrival we were greeting with a mini cup of Gingerbread latte, which was yummy. We swiftly checked in and then went to the changing rooms to put of our swim…

Paris

We’re just back from visiting Paris and Disneyland Paris, both were fab! Paris was lovely as always. Difficult with the double buggy, but the upside was that we walked lots and saw things we perhaps wouldn’t have seen. We had a lovely lunch near the Sacre Coeur – French Onion soup, Beef Bourgeon and Tart Tatin – yum!! Dining at the Sacre Coeur!    Disneyland Paris was good too. We stopped at here: http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/hotels/disneys-sequoia-lodge/ As most places, it had good and bade points: The good: Easy access to the Parks – only a 10 min walk It had…
