A mini uni reunion

At the weekend, I travelled up to Liverpool for a little reunion with the girls I used to live with at uni. I can’t quite believe that this time 15 years I was starting uni! I went to Edge Hill University, which is close to Liverpool. During my first year I lived in halls of residence and had the best time ever! The girls (and boys who lived upstairs) were fab and we had so much fun. We spent many a nights drinking far too much, and many a day sleeping in and missing lectures! Probably similar to most students.…

Losing my way and feeling meh

Since returning from our summer holiday I seem to have lost my way a little. I’ve been eating far too much rubbish, haven’t been running as much and as a result I’ve been grumpy, full of spots and just generally a bit low. I always tend to suffer pretty bad with post-holiday blues. However, this time to try and avoid that post-holiday slump, we decided to organise a couple of weekends away. Although these weekends have been great, they have also meant that instead of jumping straight back on to the healthy living wagon, I’ve been eating and drinking like I’m…

Celebrating 11 years of marriage with a weekend …

At the weekend, Simon and I celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary. For the past few years we have taken advantage of the offer of childcare from our parents to allow us to go away, just the two of us. For this anniversary we decided to visit Manchester for two nights. We both like a good city break. We both like shopping, eating nice food and visiting nice bars, so we often opt for a City break if we get the chance. We travelled up to Manchester on Friday after Simon had finished work. The traffic was pretty awful, so we…

Capturing our moments – July

Whenever I sit down to write this monthly roundup, I always look through the photo’s on my phone to remind me of what we’ve been up to. It’s really lovely to reflect at the end of each month. Looking back on what we got up to in July, it is clear that we’ve certainly packed a lot in!! At the beginning of the month we went to Alton Towers for the day. The kids loved Cbeebies land and we managed to dodge the rain. I’ve always loved Alton Towers, although I was disappointed to find that lots of the rides were…

Capturing our moments – June

I’m a little late writing this post, but better late then never I suppose! I thought this month had been pretty quiet, but flicking back through photo’s in preparation for writing this post, it’s clear that it’s actually been quite busy. At the beginning of the month we had an amazing week in Dubai, which I’ve written a full post on, which you can read here. After the hol it was back on the healthy eating and exercise plan to shed the weight I’d out on (8lbs!), ready for our next hol in July. It took a couple of weeks…

A bit of a catch up

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that at the end of every month I normally do a post about what we’ve been up to that month – a bit of a round up really. However, with my recent marathon training and the generally business of life with three kids, I haven’t managed to do on since January! Rather than do a post for each month I’ve missed, I thought I’d do a bit of a roundup post as a bit of a catch up. My memory is rubbish since having the kids, so I’m not sure…

Capturing our moments – Jan

We’ve just been away for a lovely week in a cottage in Norfolk, so it’s been very quiet on here! I’m so late with this, but as the point of it is to capture our memories I still wanted to post. I’m not really a huge January fan. It’s cold, dark and we’re often watching the pennies following Christmas. This year was no exception. We were also jet lagged as we returned from Florida at the beginning of the month. My mum was also poorly for almost 3 weeks. It was all pretty scary, she’s better now, so doctors think…

Things I’m loving lately – January

January has felt like a very long month and if I’m honest I’m so glad it’s over. Here are some of the things I’ve been using to help get me through January. Beauty A friend of mine is a Nu Skin distributor and I recently tried their Curling Mascara and Epoch Glacial Mud Mask. The mascara is amazing, it makes my lashes super long, doesn’t give me panda eyes and comes off nice and easily with make up remover. It was only launched in the middle of Jan and is already a sell out and it’s easy to see why.…

My goals for 2016

I know some people scoff at new years resolutions, but I think they’re really useful. I love how January is a time of reflection and thinking about how we can do things in the future to make ourselves even better. Before starting to write this post, I thought a good place to start was by looking back at the resolutions I wrote last year (you can take a look here). Overall I didn’t do too bad. I got a sub 60 min 10k (58:28 is my new PB); I’m not sure how many miles I ran in total as I…

Things I’m loving lately

I haven’t done this in a few months and I’m actually very late with this one but thought I’d post it anyway. Beauty  I have to be honest and admit that when I go to bed I’m often so tired that I really can’t be bothered to do my whole face cleansing routine. In fact, in the past I have been known not to bother, or to resort to a quick once over with a wet wipe! I know this is not good and as I get older I really need to pay more attention to my skin. I have…

Capturing our moments – December

A little bit later than usual with this, but we’ve only just returned from a lovely week in Orlando, so catching up with work, washing and removing the Christmas decs and getting over jet lag has meant I’ve been a bit short of time! As it is for most people, December was pretty hectic, lots of shopping, Christmas parties (and hangovers), nativity plays and generally getting ready for the big day, coupled with getting organised ready for our trip to Orlando on Boxing Day! Here’s a roundup of our month: Work Christmas parties I do love a good Christmas party.…
