Smoothies – the verdict

Last week I wrote a post announcing that I was going to get on board the smoothie band wagon and give them a try (check out my ‘Smoothies – do they really work’ post). Well after having a Deliciously Ella smoothie everyday for breakfast, I’m converted. Whilst they aren’t miracle workers and some days I was hungry by about 11am, I definitely feel healthier and a little bit smug that I manage to pack away a good amount of fruit and veg before the day even really begins! So, to sum up here are the reasons why I’ll be making smoothies a…

Smoothies – do they really work?

I’ve been hearing lots of talk about the health benefits of including smoothies in your diet recently, so I’ve decided to give them a try to see if they live up to the hype.  Image source: Deliciously Ella I’ve been struggling with eating healthily at the moment. I’m not too bad in the week -although I do tend to snack too much on cereal bars – it’s the weekend that ruins me. I tend to eat too much junk and chocolate! So, I’ve decided to start each day this week with a healthy smoothie for breakfast. I don’t often sit down and…

Weekly weigh in – it’s all about …

I’m going to be honest now, this week I haven’t weighed myself. I was quite naughty over the bank holiday weekend, and I was so excited about going to Ascot on Saturday, that I knew if the scales showed I’d put weight on it would affect how I felt in my dress. I know it’s stupid and I really hate how a couple of numbers on the scales can bother me so much, but unfortunately they do. So, this week it’s been all about denial, and do you know what..? It’s worked for me! I will weigh myself again at…

Weekly weigh in – success!

I’m delighted to report that I’ve managed to lose 3lbs – hurrah! I now have another 3lbs to lose to get back to my target weight. I’m not sure the bank holiday has helped much. Life is just too short, not to indulge during bank holidays, so the odd sweet treat may have crept in! We are off to the Victoria Cup race day at Ascot next weekend, so it’s providing a bit of motivation to stay on track. I want to look good in my Whistles dress! If you’re on a weight loss journey, I’d love to hear how…

Weekly weigh in – back on the wagon!

It’s been a while since I’ve written a weekly weigh in post. My last one was just before we went on holiday and on weighing myself the day before we left, I had managed to get down to my target of 9st 7lbs – yippee! However, me being me, I put 5lbs back on whilst away. I’d pretty much expected this. I can gain weight super fast, but can also lose it relatively quickly too. Unfortunately I didn’t get straight back on to the healthy eating. I tried, but post-holiday blues and no forthcoming holiday to motivate me, meant that I haven’t…

Weekly weigh in – week 6

I’m delighted to report that I’ve lost 2lbs, even with a slight blip on Wednesday lunch time when I had a buffet lunch and cake at work! This weekend I have indulged a little on chocolate. With us going away on Friday, I’ve been letting the kids eat any eggs they are given. Unlike me they don’t seem able to be able to polish off an egg in one sitting, so it’s generally left lying around, meaning I pick at it! In an attempt to balance out my chocolate eating I have done lots of exercise over the weekend. I…

Weekly weigh in – week 5

This week my weight has stayed the same, which I’m pretty happy with. I ate loads last weekend, due to it being Mother’s Day, and although I’ve been pretty good this week, we had a chip shop dinner on Thursday night due to a crazy day at work and me not getting in until late. So, I now have less than two weeks to lose 3lbs to get me to 9st 7lbs before we go on holiday. I’m hoping this will provide the motivation I need. I’ve already upped my exercise. I ran 4 miles on Saturday and 3 yesterday.…

Slimming World update – week 4

This week’s update is a little later than normal because I’m still coming to terms with the fact that I’ve put on 2lbs!! I’m not quite sure how that has happened. In fact, I was so shocked that I went out an bought another set of scales! Unfortunately, as confirmed by two different sets of scales, it’s true. Admittedly, I was a little naughty last weekend, but surely it doesn’t justify a 2lb gain?! It’s probably karma as I’ve spent all week bragging about how I’ve lost 8lbs in 3 weeks! That will teach me. I’ve been pretty naughty since…

Slimming World – week 3 update

I can’t quite believe it, but this week I’ve lost 4lbs! That makes a total loss of 8lbs in three weeks! The amazing part is that I’m eating lots and I’m rarely hungry – it’s fab! I wanted to weigh 9st 7lbs for our holiday to Portugal, which is in just under four weeks away. My massive loss means that I’m now only 1lb from my target! I’m hoping to at least maintain this week. If I lose it’s a bonus, but I think I should be realistic. Plus, I indulged a little at the weekend and had Pizza Hut…

10k in under 60 minutes!

At the weekend I ran my first 10k race of the year. Actually I think it was also the first time I’ve managed to run 10k this year. One of my New Years resolutions was to run 10k in under an hour at some point during the year. A few weeks before the race I was confident that this could be the race to do it. I had time to up my training distance and I knew the course was pretty flat. I also hoped that being 1 March the weather would also be better. However, if I’ve learnt anything…

Slimming World – week 2

I’m delighted to report that I have lost another 1lb. That’s 4lbs lost in two weeks. I’m pretty happy with that and only over 5lb more to lose, which I’m hoping to achieve before we go to Portugal for Easter. I’m enjoying the Slimming World programme and have found the last week easier than the first. I’ve broken my habit of snacking on cereal bars and having chocolate in the evenings and I’m much more used to what’s allowed and what should be avoided. I’ve decided to list all the meals I’ve had this week. This will give you a…
