The perfect parka

With the weather getting colder, I’ve decided that I need (ok, really want) a parka. This may sound pretty straightforward, but as usual I know exactly what I want, which inevitably makes the search for ‘the one’ extremely difficult. Please tell me it’s not just me who does this..? So, my wish list for the perfect parka is: Khaki coloured – not too light though A canvas type fabric – no shiny material please A nice big furry hood – carrying an umbrella whilst pushing a double buggy is not easy or glamorous! Not too short Not too many pockets Not too…

Equal Pay Day

Flicking through twitter this morning I came across a tweet from Grazia Daily about Equal Pay Day. Apparently today is the day that women start working for free for the rest of the year based on the pay difference between men and women, which is apparently 15p an hour less than male colleagues doing exactly the same jobs!  After doing a day at work, that’s not a nice thought. It’s wrong that this still happens, but until measures are put in place to encourage and support women who take time off to have a family, I feel it is likely…

Lazy chilli

Here is a recipe that I make quite often, it’s super easy, feeds the whole family and is yummy! The ingredients (plus beef): The method: Chop the onion and pepper and fry with some lazy chilli Add the beef and brown Add some salt and pepper  Drain the fat from the mince and add some chilli powder (I use a couple of tsps, but depends how hot you want it) Add a tin of tomatoes Add a sprinkle of cumin seeds, a couple of dashes of Worcester sauce and some Tabasco (to taste) Let it simmer for about 15 mins…

More about me…

So, I originally started this blog when I found out I was pregnant with twins, over two years ago now! Now the twins are almost two, I’ve decided to revamp the blog and expand it, so that it includes more about other areas of my life. Although my children are a huge part of my life, and my posts will no doubt feature them quite heavily, I’ve decided to share some of my other interests, thoughts and ramblings. I’ve played with the design slightly, which I hope you like and I’m planning to post more often and more varied pieces…

Still pondering…

In my last post, we’d just returned from our holiday and I was pondering things, well that continues… As usual we’ve had a busy few months. We’ve been having a huge extension on our house ( I’m sure I’ve mentioned it) which has been a nightmare – not a great idea when you have toddling twins! Oscar started school, which thankfully he loves. And I ran a half marathon for our friend’s charity, which I actually really enjoyed! It was a huge achievement and one I’m proud of.  Following the half marathon I’ve joined our local running club. The runs…

Time to reflect

I’m sat on the train heading to work after an amazing two week holiday in Benahavis, Spain. I’m really going to miss the kids today. The twins have got such great little personalities now (and Henry started walking about 6 weeks ago) and it was lovely having two weeks of pure, quality family time – no phones, Facebook or emails – bliss! I wish I did something that allowed me to be at home more. I love my job and my company are as flexible as they can be, but sometimes I do wish I worked for myself and didn’t…

Six months on

It’s been a while, six months to be exact! Life’s obviously pretty hectic, with working, 3 kids and attempting to keep fit by running twice a week! Plus, if life isn’t hectic enough, we decided to have a huge extension on our house, which started in Jan!! I think we are crazy! Work is going well – 28 hours seems to provide the perfect balance, not always but most of the time! The first week hard was hard, I really missed my babies, to the point where one day I almost cried at my desk! It got easier after a…

Back to work!

After almost 11 months off, the time has come for me to go back to work! Experiencing mixed feelings about it. Looking forward to being able to drink a cup of coffee whilst it’s still warm, and also being able to go to the loo when I want and on my own. But still sad that I won’t get to spend all day, everyday with my babies. It’s a very personal choice, but being a stay at home mum is not for me. The money is obviously a big thing and going to work allows us to have all the…

Time for separate cots…?!

Due to Henry waking in the night again, due to teething we decided last Sunday (15 Sept) to put H & H in separate cots. This is a bit of a milestone for twins. We’ve put the cots next to each other and over a week later I’m delighted to report that we’ve had no issues. In fact Henry appears to appreciate the extra space and they’ve both been sleeping better. J x

First words

How does it go…? Something along the lines of: we sacrifice our bodies, careers etc for our beautiful babies and what’s their first word…? Yep, you guessed it, Da da! Heidi today at 7 months and Henry about a month ago! The funny thing is, he’s not even here, he’s at work! Typical lol! Very proud of them both though. We now just need to work on Mama! xx
